What to do in Sa Coma

Sa Coma is located in the east of Mallorca, very close to the resorts of Cala Millor and Cala Bona and the town of Porto Cristo, and belongs to the municipality of Son Servera. It is important as a hub and has all the facilities of a tourist center to offer a good stay to visitors, with a large presence of hotels, restaurants, bars, shops... and offers many things to do and places to visit, and endless organized excursions to different tourist attractions.

Enjoy water activities and the beach

For lovers of the sea, Sa Coma has many things to do related to the sea. Its white sand beach and crystal clear waters makes it an ideal destination for families with children, offering the possibility of numerous water activities, such as jet skiing, kayaking, snorkeling or multiple boat trips that take you to navigate the East coast of Mallorca, and discover its landscape of beautiful coves. All this without forgetting that along the coast we find numerous coves, some of them authentic hidden treasures, where you can enjoy the tranquility of the sea.

Catamaran and boat trips

Although there are many boat trips in Mallorca, from Sa Coma there are no catamaran tours, since the only catamaran available in the area has its departure point from Cala Ratjada Port. From there we also find one of the most unique boat trips, which consists of enjoying the sunrise and dolphin watching in the sea aboard a modern catamaran.

Ideas for nature lovers

Nature- and sports-lovers have in Sa Coma an ideal place to practice sports and nature activities. Since a few years ago, official agencies have made important efforts to promote hiking routes in the area to attract clients interested in the practice of nature tourism and bicycle tourism. Although the main mountainous area of Mallorca, the Sierra de Tramuntana is somewhat far away, an interesting option to visit it from Sa Coma is with the excursion to Soller and La Calobra, combining a trip by train, boat, tram and coach.

A day in a water park

There are many tourists who want to enjoy a day at a water park during their holidays, but unfortunately in Sa Coma there is not a water park, but there are bus trips to one of the water parks in Mallorca, where families can enjoy slides, wave pool and its water attractions.

Excursions and tours

Located in the eastern part of the island, and far from renowned villages, perhaps one of the most outstanding visits in the surrounding area is to the Drach Caves, whose visit includes a music concert and a boat trip. Another option is to combine the visit with Porto Cristo or the pearl factory Majorica.

Visit the villages of Arta and Capdepera

Other towns of interest in the surroundings are the villages of Arta and Capdepera. Arta has a beautiful historical city centre and excellent views from the sanctuary of San Salvador. It is important to mention that the weekly market is held in Arta every Tuesday. In Capdepera we recommend to visit its castle and walls to discover the interesting history of this small but historically-important town.

Bus tours around the island

There are other popular excursions from Sa Coma. The fact that it is a touristic municipality means that there are many excursions and coach tours organized from Sa Coma to different destinations and tourist attractions of Mallorca, such as Palma, Valldemosa, Formentor ... or to ideal places for families with children such as Palma Aquarium, Marineland, Katmandu ... All these excursions include visits, guides and transportation from Sa Coma hotels.

Go for a walk to Punta de Amer

Punta de n'Amer is a viewpoint with splendid views out over the east coast of Mallorca. There is a picnic area and you can explore part of the ruins of the castle that once stood there. It is a pretty walk and is very easy. It is just half an hour each way from the centre of Sa Coma.

Have a great time on a Segway Tour

If you are staying in Sa Coma you can join a segway tour of the town and the area to explore in a fun and unique way. This is suitable for families, couples and anyone that wants to participate. You have a guide with you who will lead the way and stop at different points to share information and history. You will be given a safety demonstration and will be issued with a helmet.

Go Horse Riding at Rancho Sa Coma

This is a great fun activity on your holidays. It is perfectly suitable for beginners or those with no experience horse riding. The riding sessions take place throughout the day in groups. Also, small kids can ride a pony. There are different routes available according to experience and duration, but one very nice option is to ride to the old castle at Punta Amer, where there are fantastic views. In the summer months, an evening ride can be very enjoyable, once the heat of the day is dropping and the long shadows created by the horses and riders make for fantastic photos.
