You choose your entrance time and travel independently to Porto Cristo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are staying elsewhere in Mallorca and do not have a car, you can also book an <strong>organised Caves of Drach tour with transport and entrance included<\/strong>. Taking the boat is optional, so visitors who prefer not to do it can continue towards the exit on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caves are formed by rainwater carrying small amounts of carbonic acid in solution, which dilutes the calcium carbonate in the limestone rocks, converting it into soluble calcium bicarbonate and dragging it underground. When it encounters a cavity, the water releases the carbonic acid again, so that the bicarbonate of limescale, by returning its extra carbon to the acid, becomes insoluble calcium carbonate again.
