Mallorca. Then suddenly, thanks to the spread of photos on social networks, the popularity of this cove began. People were impressed by the sheer cliffs framing both sides of the cove, the turquoise water and, beyond that, another gulf of land, making it look like the beach was in a totally hidden location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This popularity has led to the overcrowding of the beach, especially from June to September. Many Mallorcans say that it is no longer what it was and that it is a treasure that has been lost. It has been said that Cal\u00f3 des Moro is one of those coves in Mallorca that has &#8220;died of success&#8221;. Being so small and popular, it is often saturated with people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To give you an idea of the popularity of the beach, in August 2021 there were queues of 3 hours to access the beach.<\/strong> Almost 1000 people waiting to see the cove and swim there. It is also true that in 2021, due to Covid, there was a limitation of people on the beach. But even so, it is the perfect example of the overcrowding that occurs in Cal\u00f3 des Moro. Is it even worth a visit?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite all that has been said, <strong>Calo des Moro is still a spectacular cove, which is undoubtedly worth a visit<\/strong>. Already on the way to Cal\u00f3 des Moro, from above, you realize its beauty in an environment surrounded by nature, greenery and rocky cliffs. Not only because of the aforementioned overcrowding, but also the comfort. The beach is small, there is not much sand and very little space. Therefore, you will have to be on the rocks, which are not smooth, so not very comfortable. Forget about a beach bar, sun bed services or a lifeguard. It must be said that sometimes in winter and early summer there is less sand due to storms and rough seas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Snorkelling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It is a beach to be more inside the water than outside.<\/strong> Its waters are spectacular: clear and clean, with green and blue tones\u2026 And it is its waters, together with its surroundings, which have made this cove so famous. Do not forget to take with you snorkelling material. Take a dip to enjoy seeing many fish, and explore the rocks on the sides.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/calo-des-moro-en-mallorca.jpg\" alt=\"calo des moro beach\" class=\"wp-image-4120\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/calo-des-moro-en-mallorca.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/calo-des-moro-en-mallorca-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Cliff-jumping<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another thing recommended in this cove is that there is an opportunity for cliff-jumping into the water. Probably while you go down to the beach you will see people jumping into the water from a platform-like rock, located to the right of the cove seen from below. It is a jump that is best accessed from above, that is, from the path before accessing the sand, since it is very difficult and dangerous to climb from the water. Although once you are on the edge it seems too high, there is enough depth and there is no risk of hitting stones, it is an experience that will make you enjoy the cove even more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Take a walk to Cala S&#8217;Almunia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A very short, but beautiful stroll around the rocky coast on a decent path will take you to another wonderful cove: Cala S&#8217;Almunia. This way you can split your time between the two beaches and see which one you prefer. Cala S&#8217;Almunia is a rocky cove with not much sand and, like Calo des Moro, is better appreciated from inside the water than beside it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading parrafo-azul\" id=\"how-to-get-to-calo-des-moro\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"how-to-get-to-calo-des-moro\"><\/span>How to get to Calo des Moro<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The best way to get to Cal\u00f3 des Moro is on foot from the free car park located at the entrance to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/en\/what-to-see-mallorca\/beaches-mallorca\/cala-llombards\/\">Cala Llombards<\/a>. From there, you walk a distance of 1.5 kilometres to the beach, in about 20-25 minutes. Access to the area of Cal\u00f3 des Moro and S&#8217;Almunia is restricted to residents of the municipality. A little further down we tell you in detail how to get there on foot, and other ways to get to Cal\u00f3 des Moro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update 2022: <\/strong>In November 2021 the free parking was closed for reasons of urban permits. In the summer of 2022 the car park was finally legalised and is to this day open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d12347.488509060891!2d3.1134784786565253!3d39.313821970526156!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x1296551967bd46d7%3A0x2bc59a630c3a3f92!2sCal%C3%B3%20des%20Moro!5e0!3m2!1ses!2ses!4v1645457051863!5m2!1ses!2ses\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" style=\"border:0;\" allowfullscreen=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"from-cala-llombards\"><strong>From Cala Llombards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You must drive to Santanyi and, from there, follow the signs to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/en\/what-to-see-mallorca\/beaches-mallorca\/cala-llombards\/\">Cala Llombards<\/a> (note, to <em>Cala Llombards<\/em>, not to <em>Es Llombards<\/em>). Once there, the car park is perfectly indicated for those who want to get to Cal\u00f3 des Moro, next to a roundabout. This is due to the fact that the streets that lead to the cove are restricted to traffic for only residents of the municipality. This measure was taken in 2017 to protect the overcrowding of some beaches and coves in Mallorca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From here you will have to walk about 15-20 minutes to Calle Cal\u00f3 des Moro. Right on the curve, and next to a fire hydrant, you will see a sign that says &#8220;platja&#8221;. Taking this path, in about 10 minutes you will arrive at Cal\u00f3 des Moro. You will see that there is a viewpoint, from where you can take spectacular photos, and from there some stairs go down, in a fairly steep descent. By the way, if you go to the right or left from the viewpoint, you can see other spectacular views of the cove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Important advice: do not wear sandals, better trainers or closed shoes. Better not go with children or elderly people. Caution when going down.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/cala-almunia.jpg\" alt=\"Cala Almunia\" class=\"wp-image-4119\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/cala-almunia.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/cala-almunia-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p id=\"from-cala-almunia\"><strong>From Cala Almunia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another option is to get to Cal\u00f3 des Mor\u00f3 from S&#8217;Almunia beach. To do this, from the &#8220;Platja&#8221; sign that we have mentioned, we would continue along Cal\u00f3 des Moro street until we reach the descent of the S&#8217;Almunia cove. From there, on the left side there is a path through which you will reach Cal\u00f3 des Moro. It is a more comfortable path than the previous one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"by-shuttle-bus\"><strong>By public transport<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may read on the internet that there was a shuttle bus from Santany\u00ed and other places directly to S&#8217;Almunia and Calo des Moro beaches, but this was pre-covid and <strong>the service was never resumed<\/strong> so there is now currently no way to reach Calo des Moro by public transport.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"644\" src=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/calo-des-moro-playa-espectacular-mallorca-1024x644.jpg\" alt=\"View of Calo des Moro from the top\" class=\"wp-image-4118\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/calo-des-moro-playa-espectacular-mallorca-1024x644.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/calo-des-moro-playa-espectacular-mallorca-300x189.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/calo-des-moro-playa-espectacular-mallorca-768x483.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/calo-des-moro-playa-espectacular-mallorca.jpg 1058w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p id=\"walking-routes\"><strong>Walking routes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those who visit Mallorca in winter or with cooler weather, an excellent idea is a hiking route which will take you to the cove. We love the free Wikiloc app because it has many routes. You can see the map of the route, the difficulty level, the distance\u2026 and choose the one that best suits you. Two possible routes are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From Cala Llombards to Cal\u00f3 des Moro following the coast<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To go from Cal\u00f3 des Moro to Cala Figuereta<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"629\" src=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/barco-calo-des-moro-1024x629.jpg\" alt=\"boat to calo des moro\" class=\"wp-image-4117\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/barco-calo-des-moro-1024x629.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/barco-calo-des-moro-300x184.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/barco-calo-des-moro-768x471.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/barco-calo-des-moro.jpg 1067w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading parrafo-azul\" id=\"calo-des-moro-from-the-sea\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"calo-des-moro-from-the-sea\"><\/span>Cal\u00f3 des Moro from the sea<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Another excellent option, for those with less time or for those who like to go on excursions and enjoy the coves of Mallorca, is to take a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click-mallorca.com\/en\/activities\/mallorca-boat-catamaran-trips\/\">boat trip<\/a> passing through Cal\u00f3 des Moro. That way you don&#8217;t have to deal with the crowds but you still get to see the cove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From Cala Figuera there is an excellent boat trip to Cal\u00f3 des Moro, Cala Almunia and Calo des Marmols. This last cove is absolutely spectacular, at the same level (or more) than Cal\u00f3 des Moro, but much less crowded since it must be reached on foot along a path of about 5 kilometres. It is one of the virgin coves that we have in Mallorca, with a beach of fine sand and spectacular waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading parrafo-azul\" id=\"places-to-stay-near-calo-des-moro\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"places-to-stay-near-calo-des-moro\"><\/span>Places to stay near Calo des Moro<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>An important detail when planning your excursion to Cal\u00f3 des Moro is to take into account its location in the eastern part of Mallorca. As we have mentioned, Cal\u00f3 des Moro is very small, and with 2 hours you will have enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our first suggestion is<strong> Cala S&#8217;Almunia<\/strong>, which we can reach by a path from Cal\u00f3 des Moro. It is a very small cove, without sand, with some houses on the beach and a small jetty. Ideal to visit it, take a couple of photos and refresh in its clear waters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another suggestion is<strong> Cala Llombards<\/strong>, which we can reach by car and park in the car park on the beach. It is a beautiful cove with white sand and turquoise waters. It has a lot of space and a beach bar. It is an ideal beach to spend a few hours on: relax on the sand and in the water, and have a drink at the beach bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The last suggestion is <strong>Cala Santanyi Beach<\/strong>, which is very similar to Cala Llombards, and has all kinds of facilities.
