What to do in Cala Mesquida on your holidays

Cala Mesquida, tucked away in the North East Coast of Mallorca is a small secluded place, with few hotels and beautiful and extensive stretches of sand. Cala Mesquida is a very peaceful place to spend a holiday but there is also an endless range of tours, excursions and things to do and see.

Hiking tours along the coast

Cala Mesquida is located very close to Llevant Nature Park, an ideal visit for nature lovers with many walking trails within the park. For people who like hiking, our top choice is the route that goes to the Son Jaumell lookout tower from which there are magnificent views of the beach and the countryside and you can even see all the way to AIcudia.

Also, from Cala Mesquida you can walk to Cap des Freu where there is one of the biggest colonies of cormorans and seagulls on the island.

From Cala Mesquida you can also explore the coastline, and you will find some hidden coves. For example you can walk to Cala Guya beach, or you can do a trekking tour in the Nature Llevant area combining it with a stop at a cove such as Cala Matzoc or Cala Torta.

Beaches, water activities and boat trips

For beach lovers, Cala Mesquida boasts a beautiful sandy beach lined with pine trees, sand dunes and rocks, which create a unique location for enjoying a day relaxing at the beach. The Cala Mesquida beach is a long white sandy beach with all the facilities such as sunbeds, bars, water sports, snorkelling...

Unfortunately there are no boat trips departing from Cala Mesquida, and the nearest place to get on a boat or catamaran excursion is the resort of Cala Ratjada. Many tours we have listed on the website include pick up from the hotels in Cala Mesquida to take you there and back.

Visit a water park e.g. the Aqualand Arenal

There is no water park in Cala Mesquida, the closest is Hidropark in Alcudia. We do offer bus and entrance packages to the big water parks in Arenal and Magaluf from Cala Mesquida, where the whole family can have a fun day out. It is also worth mentioning that in the hotels belonging to the Viva and Zafiro chains in Cala Mesquida, you will find swimming pools with slides and attractions especially designed for small children.

Where you can eat well

For lovers of good food, in the area right by Cala Mesquida we find the hotel Son Jaumell where Michelin Star chef Andreu Genestra has his restaurant. The nearby town of Artá also has a good selection of restaurants.

Nightlife in Cala Mesquida

For nightlife you will need to go to the neighbouring resort of Cala Ratjada, that is very popular among German visitors and offers a wide choice of bars, discos and chill out bars.

Guided tours by bus

If you are interested in seeing other parts of Mallorca and getting to know the most interesting sights, we offer lots of excursions from Cala Mesquida to the main tourist attractions and the best sights of the island, including the Caves of Drach, Formentor or the Tramuntana area. Three of the most popular tours are to the Caves of Drach, to Formentor and the trip to Soller and Calobra. These excursions are excellent value for money and they have excellent reviews from customers that have been on the trip.

If you like horse riding, head for Rancho Grande, close to Son Serra de Marina, where they offer different options from pony riding to two hour horse riding excursions. There is also a great restaurant specialising in grilled meat.

Excursions with children

Families with children have lot of choices, from boat trips to popular tourist attractions. Marineland is one of the highlights in the resort, and it offers a great dolphin show. Other great options for families are Palma Aquarium, Katmandu or Pirates show, and we have tour packages including return bus and entrance to the venue.

Visit the towns around Cala Mesquida

It is also interesting to explore the villages close to Cala Mesquida. Unmissable are Capdepera and Artá, which host their weekly markets Wednesday and Tuesday respectively. In Capdepera it is nice to explore the old part of town and to visit the remarkable Capdepera Castle.
