Cala Mondrago is one of the most beautiful beaches in the East of Mallorca, located in the extreme southeast of the island. It stands out for its environment, nature, and for being a natural area of special interest. In fact, Cala Mondrago enjoys protection as a Natural Park of Mallorca and Spain. Around Cala Mondrago there are a few hotels, although it is a very quiet place, which has no resemblance with other tourist resorts situated nearby. From Cala Mondrago there are many things to do and places to visit, and a lot of organized excursions to different tourist attractions.
The beach at Cala Mondrago is an ideal place to relax, swim, sunbathe and snorkel. Cala Mondrago is made up of two coves with fne sand and crystal waters, both of which make a great beach spot to spend a day of your holidays. Close by, following the coastline, there are more of these small, picturesque coves.
You can also enjoy a boat trip on the east coast of the island from Cala Mondrago, seeing the wonderful landscape of this part of Mallorca. Another interesting option is to go to Colonia de San Jordi, to enjoy the popular boat trip to the National Park of Cabrera, visiting the island, its castle, enjoying a swim in its waters and the Blue Cave.
Walkers will enjoy the Natural Park of Cala Mondragó, which offers numerous treks along the coast, showing the wilderness of this area of the island. There are four self-guided trails in Mondrago and at the National Park information center, they offer more information about them. All the trails are perfectly marked, and are easy to follow. This constitutes a great day out in Mallorca.
The surroundings of Cala Mondragó offer many things to see and do. The visit to the town of Santanyi is highly recommended: it is a beautiful town with charming streets to explore, shops, art galleries, and nice squares to stop for a drink. Every Saturday there is a busy market where you can do some of your shopping in Mallorca.
Cala Figuera is another excellent option to visit, it is a small fishing port that has a peculiar charm, and whose visit can combine with a meal at one of its restaurants. Other recommendations in the surroundings are Colonia de Sant Jordi where you can visit the Es Trenc saltworks or the Ses Salines lighthouse.
Other activities in Cala Mondrago are to make some of the excursions that are offered to different tourist attractions and places in Mallorca such as the Caves of Drach, Formentor, Soller or Palma, among other destinations.
