Our Rural Mallorca excursion takes us to small villages and inland countryside away from the tourist bustle. It is a day out for people who want to discover the real island life away from the beach crowds. It is a gastronomic day out on which we will experience local products and enjoy a typical rustic lunch washed down with plenty of local vino. This is also a hands-on trip where everyone gets involved in selecting the vegetables and bread for lunch when we stop at the small towns of Maria de la Salut and Binissalem.
The first part of our Rural Mallorca tour will take us straight to one of the most traditional parts of the island when our guide takes you around the little-visited town of Maria de la Salut where we visit the local market.
Next we will explore even deeper into local life as we visit Binissalem, Mallorca's most famous wine-producing town. You will have time to stroll around old lanes and discover the typical stone architecture. In Binissalem you will visit: a local market where you will help select the vegetables for lunch; a typical townhouse; and a traditional rural wine cellar that stills uses old methods to create their wine. Here we will buy the wine for our Rural Mallorca lunch.
Our next stop is our lunch stop and is at a typical country house in the outskirts of Santa Maria and is exclusive to our group. Here our guide will show you how to prepare a local Mallorcan dish using the ingredients we bought at the market and at the bakery in Binissalem, and then we will enjoy a delicious lunch accompanied by the wine purchased at the wine cellar.
