Mallorca Boat Trip to The Best Coves

We depart from the picturesque harbour of Porto Cristo and follow the south coast. Our small and comfortable boat will soon take us away from the busy harbour to the peaceful Mediterranean. On this first stretch of the journey you will see pretty sights such as a watchtower from the 17th century close to the Caves of Drach, one of the best rated coves of Mallorca: Cala Mandia, and some other rugged coastline in the area of Cala Romantica. After an enjoyable boat journey we will arrive at Cala Varques.

No list of the best coves in Mallorca is complete without Cala Varques. It is truly one of the most beautiful coves in Mallorca. You will know you are getting close to Cala Varques when you see the natural land arch which looks like a beautiful bridge over the sea. Cala Varques itself is a wild beach with a backdrop of pine forest and crystal clear turquoise waters.

Just along from Cala Varques we find a secluded inlet called Cala Sequer. This is tiny compared to Cala Varques and you can often see the soft white sand with very few towels laid upon it. This is because Cala Sequer is a virgin beach and to get there by land you have to walk more than 1km on foot. That's why this is one of Mallorca's best coves to visit by boat.

Our boat tour takes us further down the coast to the next set of beautiful coves. The first one is Cala Magraner, which is described as a pebble beach but also has powdery white sand close by the sea. The cove is formed by the mouth of a gorge and is encased by impressive cliffs popular with hikers and rock climbers.

The sea at Cala Magraner is usually very calm and the seabed is comprised of rocks and stones, which you can see through the perfectly clear waters. This area is good for scuba diving activities.

The last two coves on our route are Cala Pilota and Cala Virgili. Cala Pilota is right by Cala Magraner and can in fact be seen from Cala Magraner's watch tower. It is a small, pebble beach, which offers peace, tranquility and a beautiful panorama.

To arrive at Cala Virgili, your boat will have to zig zag through what looks like a secret approach known only to the odd fisherman! You will feel like you have travelled back in time to a simpler Mallorca, with few visitors. There's a small disused boat hut in the cove, adding to the feeling of discovering a time gone by.

To complete this fabulous boat tour, we will make a stop at an isolated cove, Cala Falco, which can only be reached by boat as it is part of a sea cave network. We will stay there for 30 minutes for swimming and snorkelling or simply to enjoy this privileged location on the island.
