Symphony of the Seas: available shore excursions

Due to the short duration of the stopover in the Port of Palma, arriving at 08:00 and departing at 16:00, not all of our excursions that are usually organised from Palma, will be possible. The following tours ARE possible for people visiting Palma on the Symphony of the Seas:

Where does Symphony of The seas dock in Palma de Mallorca?

The cruise ship Symphony of the Seas docks in the area called “dique del oeste” in Palma’s port. This is the area reserved for the largest cruise ships and is at the end of the port furthest away from the city centre. To reach the centre of Palma you can take a public bus from the stop by the terminal, take one of the cruise shuttle buses, or you can go walking, but it is around 7km. On the attached photo, it is the number 35.

Getting from the cruise area to Palma's old town is relatively easy. There are several options to choose from depending on your preferences and budget.  One of the easiest ways to reach the old town is by taking a taxi from the cruise port. Taxis are readily available and will take you directly to your destination. The ride typically takes around 10 minutes depending on traffic and the cost is usually around 15-20 euros.

Another option is to take the public bus. The bus stop is located just outside the cruise terminal and several bus lines run to the city center. Line 1 goes directly to the old town and the journey takes around 20-25 minutes. The cost is around 2 euros per person.

For those who enjoy walking, it is also possible to reach the old town on foot. It is approximately a 30-40 minute walk from the cruise port to the city center, depending on your walking speed.

Lastly, some cruise lines offer shuttle buses that take passengers from the port to the city center. This is a convenient option, although it can be more expensive than taking the public bus.

Walking tour in Palma old town

If you're a cruise passenger with limited time to explore the beautiful capital of Mallorca, a walking tour with a local guide is a fantastic way to experience the highlights of the city. In just 2.5 hours, you can discover the best of Palma, including its iconic cathedral, with the help of someone who knows the island and the city well.

Unlike the guides provided by the cruise companies, a local guide will give you an authentic experience and insider tips on the best places to visit, eat and drink. They will share their knowledge and passion for the city with you, providing a deeper understanding of its culture and history.

Not only are the tours more authentic, they are also a lot more competitive in terms of pricing compared to booking through the cruise company. Cruise companies often increase prices, taking advantage of the fact that passengers are on board and have limited options. By booking a local walking tour, you can save money and still have a wonderful experience.

So, if you want to make the most of your time in Palma, book a walking tour with a local guide and see the city from a whole new perspective.
