Cala Tuent
Cala Tuent is one of the most hidden beaches in Mallorca. An unspoilt beach between some of the highest mountains in Mallorca. It is not easy to get to Cala Tuent, you have to make a good effort, but it is worth it! In fact, the journey to Cala Tuent, whether by boat or car, is a delight, with some of the best scenery in Mallorca.
If you are thinking of visiting Cala Tuent, we have created a guide prepared by local experts in Mallorca, who know the island like the back of their hand, and want to share with you the best tips and suggestions for spending a day in Cala Tuent. And if you want to know more beach options, visit our guide to the beaches of Mallorca.
Cala Tuent Beach
It is one of the most hidden beaches in the Tramuntana mountain range, which gives it a lot of charm, and is surrounded by some of the highest mountains in Mallorca. In fact, it is known for its spectacular and rugged mountain scenery, and for its olive trees almost touching the sea.
The beach is small in size, although it is never overcrowded. It is 170 metres long and about 30 metres wide, and there is no sand, only pebbles and coarse gravel. It is therefore advisable to bring closed beach shoes or trainers! Also bear this in mind when swimming or entering the water, as there are rocks.
The water is always clear and clean, with shades of different colours. Ideal for diving or snorkelling. On the right side there is a small jetty, from there you can jump into the water, and there is also beautiful panoramic views of the beach with Puig Major in the background.
It is a fairly quiet beach, as most tourists opt to go to the nearby beach of Sa Calobra. Obviously, during the weekends there are more people, but even so, it still retains all its charm.
What to do around Cala Tuent?
If you are going to Cala Tuent it is probably to spend a day at the beach in one of the coves of the Sierra de Tramuntana. But after all, at click-mallorca we are experts on the island, and we want to give you some recommendations of things to do and see around Cala Tuent:
Es Vergeret Restaurant
This restaurant is located next to Cala Tuent, and from its terrace there is an incredible panoramic view of the cove. The restaurant is open from 12 noon to 5 p.m. and offers Mallorcan dishes, fish and rice dishes. Reservations are recommended on weekends.
They also have an accommodation available, with it being the only option to stay in Cala Tuent, as there is no hotel in this area! An apartment with 5 bedrooms and bathrooms, which can accommodate up to a maximum of 10 people. The price is from 190€ per night, with a minimum of 3 nights.
Tuent Oratory
On the way to Cala Tuent, we find the Chapel of Sant Llorens, a 13th century chapel from which we propose two easy and short routes:
- The Tuent Tower of Defence: from the back of the chapel there is a path that takes us to this defensive tower built in 1596.
- The llogaret (hamlet) of Sa Calobra: from the side of the church, you can reach this beautiful hamlet within about a 5 minute walk, with very well preserved houses, typical of mountain architecture.
Sa Calobra and El Torrent de Pareis
The port of Sa Calobra with the mouth of the torrent of Pareis is one of the most visited places in the Tramuntana mountain range, and in Mallorca. A good idea might be to visit it at sunset, when the place is less crowded, and you can visit it with more peace and quiet. We recommend you take a look at this guide to Sa Calobra for more information.
Sa Costera
Our proposal for hiking lovers, and an option to do in winter. It is a 10-kilometre route that goes from the Ses Barques viewpoint to Cala Tuent. The route is perfectly signposted, and can be done in less than 5 hours, although you should bear in mind that it is not a circular route. If you feel like doing a shorter route, you can start from Cala Tuent, to reach the old electricity factory of Sa Costera, and return from there.
