It is followed by a surrender parade in which Dragut, captain of the corsairs, admits defeat in a moving speech while the Christians go to the church to sing the Tedeum in thanksgiving for the divine intercession that has given them victory in the battle. The traditional mesclat, a drink made from dry aniseed and wood, is also part of the festivities.
