Tours and Excursions Available in February
In February, Mallorca offers a wide variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, horse riding, boat trips and 4×4 excursions. Some popular excursions include visits to the Caves of Drach, the Sierra de Tramuntana Natural Park, the Lluc Monastery and the Cap Formentor Lighthouse. Here are some suggestions about what excursions and tours to do in Mallorca in February:
Excursion to the Caves of Drach and Caves of Hams
The caves of Mallorca are among the main attractions of the island and, among them, two stand out without a doubt, the Caves of Drach and the Caves of Hams, located in the municipality of Manacor. One option is to visit both on the same day, combining the visit with the pearl factory and the visit to Porto Cristo where, at this time of year, we can take the opportunity to take a walk along the promenade or along its beach in complete peace.
As we know that at this time of year many visitors come to the island for a weekend getaway or just for a few days, and want to make the most of their trip, we have a half-day excursion option in February in which we only visit the Caves and we return to the hotels. Here is more information about Caves in Mallorca
Special Excursions in Mallorca in February: Formentor, market and almond blossom.
One of our classic excursions in February in Mallorca is to see the almond blossom in Mallorca, which during this month covers the interior area of the island with their delicate white flowers. The first stop is at the traditional Sineu market, one of the oldest on the island, and the only live animal market in Mallorca. We will have time to take a walk, see the church and even go to one of the bars in the town to have a plate of “frit de matançes”, something very typical in this town on market day..
We continue to go to Formentor, a magical place, which is especially beautiful in this month when there are hardly any cars or tourists. In the Formentor area we will make a stop at the Colomer viewpoint, from where we will have the pleasure of enjoying incredible views and at Formentor Beach, which is truly paradisiacal and undoubtedly one of the best beaches on the island. Then we will continue our excursion heading to Puerto Pollensa, one of the most beautiful coastal towns in the north of Mallorca and from where you can see the entire Bay of Pollensa and the famous “Punta de l’Avançada” lighthouse..
On the follwing link you will find more information about this tour: Excursion to Formentor
Excursion in train, tram, bus and boat
Our best-selling activity last year and one of the most requested excursions in February is an excellent combination of different means of transport and some of the most spectacular views in Mallorca.
During the month of February, our stop for lunch will be in La Calobra, where there will be enough time to get closer to see the incredible mouth of the Pareis torrent, and enjoy this magical place. The bus ride takes us along the spectacular road to La Calobra, with magnificent views of the Sierra de Tramuntana. And the Soller Valley will be the protagonist as we continue the journey by train and tram.

Palma de Mallorca Cathedral
One of the most important tourist spots on the island is the capital Palma de Mallorca. There is no doubt that one of the must-sees if we spend a day in the city is the Cathedral, better known by Mallorcans as La Seu.
This monument can be visited every day from Monday to Saturday (except some holidays). Visiting hours are from 10:00 a.m., although we recommend getting there around 12:00 p.m., since at that time you will find fewer people and you will be able to fully enjoy the venue and all its areas such as the museum, the altar, the cloister, etc..

On February 2nd there is a unique event in the Cathedral. The position of the sun at 08:00 in the morning will project an image of the west rose window onto the opposite wall, just below the east rose window, and will form a figure 8. This is not just random, but the result of centuries-old mathematical design, which means the union of the material and spiritual world. The event is free and you can take photos and videos. In fact, if you search on Instagram or Youtube, you can see what this light show is like inside the Cathedral. This is a perfect things to do in Palma in February.

Horse Riding
To finish with our reccomendations on excursions you can do in Mallorca in February, we have an outdoor activity and totally different from the rest of the recommendations that we have previously proposed. It is about the wonderful experience of being able to ride a horse through the mountains of Alcudia, north of Mallorca.
This is a great option for the sunny days of February leaving from the ranch located in Alcudia at mid-morning. Riding in a group, the excursion takes place through the mountains of the area and the duration of the activity is about 2 hours.
The ranch provides all the safety material for the excursion, such as an approved helmet and an expert guide who will accompany us throughout the trip and will make our day an unforgettable experience.
You will find more information here—> horse riding excursions in Mallorca.
Other options:
- One of the most frequently asked questions is if there are already boat trips in February in Mallorca, and unfortunately there aren’t yet, we will have to wait until March and Easter for this type of outing.
- Excursions with children: it is good to remember that Palma Aquarium is open all year round, and it is an excellent visit for families with children. In addition, since last year you can enjoy the new AquaDome attraction, a 3D cinematographic experience that will allow you to feel as if you were swimming with whales. If you want to know more about this activity we recommend you take a look at this link: Palma Aquarium with AquaDome cinema entrance.
